Growing Together at the Netley Busy Bee

A day of teamwork, connection, and lasting impact.

Nearly 40 people came together on the 20th of June for the Orana Netley Busy Bee, helping transform outdoor spaces across the site into safer, more accessible, and more welcoming environments for clients, employees, families, and visitors.

Employees, clients, support workers, managers, Executive Team members, Board Directors, family members, and friends all rolled up their sleeves to lend a hand. From gardening and landscaping to cleaning, moving pavers and other materials, and preparing food, there was no shortage of teamwork throughout the day.

Despite the chilly winter weather, conditions stayed dry and spirits remained high as volunteers worked side by side to achieve an incredible amount in just one day. The working bee not only improved the physical environment but also highlighted the strong sense of community, belonging, and shared purpose that exists across Orana.

The improvements made form part of Orana’s vision to create more inclusive, accessible, and enjoyable outdoor spaces where people can connect, relax, and thrive.

A huge thank you goes to everyone who generously donated their time, energy, and enthusiasm. Their efforts saved Orana thousands of dollars while helping bring these important projects to life.

The Busy Bee was just one step in Orana’s broader Make a Difference campaign, which is raising support for projects that create meaningful opportunities and welcoming spaces for people with disability.

Donations to initiatives such as Where Good Things Grow help fund landscaping and outdoor improvements that are not covered by existing funding. Every contribution, large or small, helps create environments where people can live, work, learn, and participate in their community.
