Student Pathways Program

Welcome to Orana’s Student Pathways Program! Our program is designed to support students in their last year of school as they explore the exciting world of post-school options. We understand that making decisions about your future can be overwhelming, which is why we’re here to help.

Join us on this journey as we guide you towards a path that suits your interests and goals. Let’s start this exciting adventure together!

Students have the chance to experience Orana’s Supported Employment and Community Options programs. Please find more information about both Work Experience and Community Options experience below.

Students can participate in one or both areas to find the support that is right for them.

We are dedicated to fostering strong partnerships with schools and students. Our main goal is to provide the best opportunities and deliver real results for the students we support. Through collaboration and a person-centred approach, we strive to create an environment that empowers students to thrive and succeed. Work Experience Program for Students with Disability

Orana’s work experience program is designed for students in their final year of school who are looking to explore future employment opportunities. This program offers hands-on job training across a range of roles at Orana worksites, tailored to each student’s abilities and interests.

Real Job Experience in a Supportive Environment

Orana’s work experience program offers hands-on job training at Orana employment sites. Students work in real roles suited to their skills, interests, and support needs. The experience helps build workplace readiness, develop social and communication skills, and prepare students for future employment.

Who Can Apply?

Eligibility Requirements

  • Open to Year 12 students, or Year 11 students if it is their final year of school
  • Applicants must be enrolled in school and seeking work experience opportunities
  • Designed for students with disability who require workplace support
  • Students must be accompanied by a school-appointed SSO (School Services Officer) during work experience hours
  • A maximum of five students are accepted per term to ensure personalised support

Intake Assessment

All students must complete Orana’s intake process before starting, including review of:

  • Behaviour Support Plans (BSPs)
  • Medical plans
  • Any other relevant information required to support the student safely and effectively

Work Experience Program Details

Schedule: One day per week for a full school term

Hours: 9.00 am – 3.30 pm (within regular school hours)

Supervision: A school-appointed SSO must attend with each student

Location: Various Orana employment sites across SA

Orana is a trusted provider of supported employment for people with disability. Students who complete our work experience program may transition into paid employment with Orana, with opportunities to grow and take on new responsibilities over time. Supported employment is ideal for young people who want to build skills while receiving structured assistance on the job.

Student Resources and Support Materials

To support learning, every student receives a comprehensive work experience workbook, complete with:

  • Tools for workplace success and practical job tips
  • Interactive activities
  • Tools to support learning and reflection

This resource helps students make the most of their time at Orana and carry lessons forward into future roles.

Community Options helps connect you to your community, make new friends, and, more importantly, support you in achieving your goals. At Orana, we recognise the importance of the transition process for students, whether they are preparing for employment or exploring other opportunities. That’s why we provide a range of experiences through our Community Options programs.

Community Options offers a range of programs that act as great stepping-stones for students who are eager to develop their skills. Whether you’re preparing to enter the workforce or seeking a part-time opportunity, our programs can provide an ideal basis for your development.

Community Options Experience provides students with the opportunity to explore and try out various programs that can assist them in making decisions about their post-school pathway.

At Orana, we offer our students support for their Community Options experiences. Students are provided with a specially designed workbook containing various resources and engaging activities. With the help of this workbook, students can make the most of their Community Options experience.
