Orana provides opportunities for people with disability to live their best lives.

Our home support services include in-home support, supported independent living, and short-term accommodation. Orana is committed to creating an environment that encourages independence and choice while assisting you in achieving your personal goals.

Most of the time, people with disability are talked about as a single group, but each person with disability has different needs, abilities, and goals. This is something we are aware of at Orana, where we support people with disability to live happy and comfortable lives by providing them with support individualised to their needs. A single solution doesn’t work for everyone; our support is completely focused on you and what you need.

Supported independent living (SIL) is for people who often need more help at home. SIL is a way to get support without giving up your independence in a safe and empowering environment.

Orana’s SIL gives people with different support needs a safe place to live in the community, without giving up their independence.

Make a life that works for you:
Live the life you want knowing that you are well supported.

Balance freedom and safety:
Your well-being always comes first. You will have a safe and comfortable place to live while encouraging you to do the things you enjoy.

Build confidence to be more independent:
Orana will encourage you in a way that helps build your confidence and belief in your own abilities.

More social opportunities:
SIL provides a community where you can socialise with people who share common interests.

Orana values each person’s uniqueness and doesn’t take a one size fits all approach. The support you receive is adjusted to meet your changing needs, goals, and funding in your NDIS plan. This can be anywhere from just a few hours each week and may include:

  • Help with menu planning, shopping, and cooking
  • Support attending activities in the community
  • Assistance with attending medical appointments and taking care of medications
  • Help in taking care of yourself

Orana SIL is available in metropolitan and regional South Australia.

Orana’s in-home support service can help you live your life to the fullest while remaining in the comfort and safety of your own home.

Getting help at home may suit your needs and has many benefits, such as:

Comfort

Where else would you feel as at ease as in your own home? Simple changes to your home, such as installing handrails or moving furniture, can make your daily routine much easier, allowing you to cope at home.

Independence

Living in your own home gives you a lot more control over your daily routine because you are not completely reliant on others. All support services are tailored to your specific needs and desires and can assist you in engaging in activities that you may have previously ignored as too difficult.

Individualised support

Getting help at home allows you to choose what you do and receive support only with activities that you are struggling with.

Involvement of family members

When you’re at home, your loved ones can be as involved as much as you want, which isn’t always possible when you’re not. Involvement of family members in developing support plans can also lead to more opportunities.

Our staff can provide short-term accommodation in your own home, our city-based apartment, or within our accommodation centre in Whyalla.

Each option can be used on a regular basis, as a one-off, or during school breaks. Our aim is to give people and their families support and care that gives them peace of mind.

To be eligible for our short-term accommodation service, you will need to have funding in your NDIS plan or the ability to pay for your own support.
