Orana at the 68th Loxton Mardi Gras

Showcasing our plants, services, and love for Loxton.

On Saturday, February 22nd, our dedicated Orana Loxton team braved the scorching 41-degree heat to showcase their incredible work at the Loxton Mardi Gras.

The Mardi Gras festival is a free, family-friendly event that has been a beloved tradition in Loxton for 68 years.

First held in 1958, the Loxton Mardi Gras takes its name from the traditional meaning of “Grand Tuesday,” a day when communities would enjoy a large feast of rich foods before the start of Lent.

Originally started as a way to raise money for a swimming pool, the event has grown over the years and has continued to be a wonderful fundraising event for the community. It has helped support playgrounds, aged care facilities and even helped to secure the pedal prix race.
Today it is one of Australia’s longest running festivals and community parade, boasting a rich history.

The festival features market stalls, live entertainment, bands, games, the Nippy’s Great Underarm Orange Bowling Event, and, of course, the famous Mardi Gras parade.

The Loxton team, proudly representing Orana, kicked off the day bright and early, meeting at 7:15 am to prepare our stall. We showcased a selection of our beautiful plants, all while highlighting the exceptional services of our gardening crew to the broader community.

The event served as a remarkable platform not just for selling our plants, but also for engaging with the local community and honouring the spirit of the town. The atmosphere buzzed with energy, featuring a stunning display of community-made floats that highlighted remarkable creativity and innovation.

We are incredibly proud of our hardworking team for making the day such a success. A huge thank you to all the staff and clients who contributed to this fantastic event, we couldn’t have done it without you.
