Celebrating Our Special Olympics representatives

From bowling lanes to soccer fields, these athletes are proving what can be achieved through dedication and passion.

Orana is incredibly proud to celebrate members of our community who have been selected to represent South Australia at the Special Olympics Australia National Games in Melbourne this October.

Among those preparing for the games are employees Josh and Chantelle, who will both compete on one of the biggest stages in inclusive sport.

Josh will represent South Australia as part of the bowling team, continuing a long and successful journey with Special Olympics. Over the years, Josh has competed at multiple games and has already earned an impressive five medals. One of his proudest sporting moments came in Launceston in 2022, where he achieved a remarkable high score of 216, including six strikes in a row.

For Josh, Special Olympics is about more than competition. He especially values the friendships, support, and camaraderie shared amongst teammates. He also lives by the Special Olympics motto:
“Let me win, but if I cannot win, let me be brave in the attempt.”

Chantelle has also earned selection to represent South Australia in soccer, where she will take to the field as one of the team’s goalkeepers. Her selection reflects years of dedication, training, and passion for the game.

Chantelle shared, “Really happy with how far I’ve come with my soccer; I really enjoy playing and am proud of my achievements.”
Over the coming months, Chantelle will be fundraising to support her journey to the games through the sales of Jolly Soles socks.

Both Josh and Chantelle embody the spirit of determination, inclusion, and community. Their achievements highlight the opportunities that sport can create, building confidence, friendships, resilience, and pride.
