Waste-reducing Initiative

Port Augusta City Council and Orana commenced the roll out of FOGO (Food and Garden Organics) bins in late October this year. Port Augusta City Council is one of the first regional Councils to roll out this waste-reducing initiative. This bin will change the way people dispose of green waste into green bins.
Approximately 700 people registered to receive a free bin and one of the first to receive their bins was Matthew Williams from Stirling North. Port Augusta residents are now encouraged to use the FOGO kitchen bin system to collect food scraps and other compostable materials before placing them into their green lidded food and garden organics bins. Further information on kitchen organics for compost can be found here.
If you missed out on registering for a free Kitchen FOGO bin, they are available for collection from the Civic Centre 4, Mackay Street, Port Augusta. A further roll out to the community will commence in the near future. To stay tuned for further information, please visit Port Augusta City Council’s Facebook page.
A big thank you to Orana employees and staff for assisting Port Augusta City Council with the delivery of this eco-friendly initiative.
