Pets for people with intellectual disability research project

An inclusive research team from Flinders University is completing a research study about the experiences of people with intellectual disability who have a pet or who would like a pet. The research team is an inclusive group. This means the research group includes researchers with intellectual disability and researchers from Flinders University, working together on this study.

The research team is looking for people with intellectual disability to be part of their research. To participate in the research, all participants will need to:

  • Have an intellectual disability
  • Be 18 years or older
  • Have a pet or would like to have a pet

Interviews will be conducted during February, March and April 2021 with focus groups held during March and April 2021.

Click here for a copy of a participant information sheet and consent form if you are interested in participating.

This project is supported by Flinders University, College of Nursing and Health Sciences.

If you have any questions you can contact one of research team members – Felicity Crowther via email at or telephone 0404 794 052.
