Orana Client Awards 2018

The Orana Client Awards are held twice a year to celebrate client achievements in the areas of Health and Wellness, Education and Vocation and Community Inclusion.

Thank you to everyone who submitted nominations for the first round of Client Awards. Orana is proud to announce the first round winners of the 2018 Orana Client of the Year Awards:

Community Inclusion Award

Winner: Steven Bond (Pt Pirie AS)

Steven attends Special Olympics Bowling each week. He volunteers to help coach some of the other bowlers. Steven will assist bowlers who are unable to follow the board to identify when it is their turn, and will assist them to choose an appropriate bowl. Steven is always cheering on and encouraging everyone to keep trying. He does not play himself, but he is friendly and helpful to others and an asset to the team.

Runner Up: Bradley Mc Phee (Netley BS)

Bradley won two bronze medals at the National Ten Pin Bowling titles. Bradley participated in the B Grade competition. The first medal was in the team tournament, and the second in singles. The competition was held at the Woodville Ten Pin Bowling Centre.

Health and Wellness Award

Winner: Kirsten Sampson (Metro North AS)

Kirsten moved from her independent unit to a house in which she shares with others due to safety and risk concerns, and has overcome a traumatic experience. Since moving into her new house, Kirsten has settled into her new home, and excelled in all areas of her daily life. Her personal care and outlook on life has improved dramatically, she now arrives at work on time and appears happy and motivated to attend. Kirsten also goes to the gym every week and her fitness has improved.

Runner Up: Michelle Oxford (Metro South AS)

Michelle has been attending her local gym once or twice a week with the goal to lose weight and to keep fit. Michelle has lost 16Kg so far. She has reduced her junk food and soft drink intake – now preferring to drink water and eat home-cooked meals. She is also participating in Dance Down weekly which involves dancing and exercise. She will participate in a concert at the end of each term.

Congratulations to Steven, Bradley, Kirsten and Michelle, and thank you to everyone for the nominations for these awards.
