Getaway weekend!

27 participants gathered at the West Beach Resort to attend a ‘Getaway’ weekend from 12 – 14 March.

After settling into group cabins and catching up with old friends, everyone enjoyed a BBQ dinner and listened to staff explain the eventful activities planned for the weekend. Most of the group were really looking forward to using the pool and waterslides on Saturday.

Saturday morning arrived quickly and some participants helped with cooking eggs for breakfast, before huddling into the cabins for social activities and movies while waiting for the rain to end. Around 1pm the weather had finally cleared up, allowing us to jump in the pool. Some brave enough to tackle the waterslides, others enjoyed lounging on the pool side beds. For dinner everyone relished pizza before driving to see an Adelaide Fringe show, Amazing Race. It was about planes, trains and cartwheels.

On Sunday morning bags were packed and great team work showed by all to organise everything into one cabin. Most were then eager to head to the basketball and tennis courts, while others enjoyed some art and singing their hearts out on SingStar. Lunch time was spent at the local Surf Life Saving Club where an enjoyable meal of choice was had while socialising. Afterwards, all had the pleasure to meet up with Brad and Mel from BB Sports at the local oval. They coached the group through obstacle courses and various physical games, with lots of laughter and smiles all around!
