Port Pirie Orana Stars

A group of Orana Port Pirie clients has been chosen to represent South Australia in Bowling at the Special Olympics Australia National Games held on the 16th-20th April 2018 in Adelaide.

Kathleen, Daniel and Lissette (Lissie) have been training for a long time and their hard work has paid off by being recognised as proud state representatives at the 2018 National Games.

The games are the pinnacle of competition in Special Olympics Australia and only come around every four years.

Lissette, Daniel and Kathleen are part of a team of 90 athletes representing South Australia.

Kathleen has been working at Orana for the last few years and works in the packaging and assembly area and is a valuable employee of Orana. Kathleen also works with the External Services team who undertake gardening and maintenance work in the local area. She lives independently with her husband and son.

Daniel has been working at Orana for seven years and also works in the packaging and assembly area. Through working at Orana, Daniel has increased his social and communication skills, interacting more with employees and staff at Port Pirie. Daniel is always smiling and happy. Daniel lives with his foster family in Port Pirie.

Lissie is one of Port Pirie’s longest serving employees, having worked for Orana for 20 years, working in the packaging and assembly area also and working occasionally with the External Services team. Lissie is very active in the community and has a good network of friends. She has very good social skills and everybody knows her for her bubbly energetic personality. She lives independently and rides her bike to work every day. Lissie volunteers on weekends with other employees of Orana and collects cans at the local football games with the proceeds going to the Special Olympics social club to help assist the participants with bus trips, etc.

We are very proud of our employees and wish them all the best at the games!
