A Brightening Life
Terry is being supported by Orana’s Accommodation Services to participate in a diverse range of community events and activities.
For the past year, Terry has been actively attending his craft and painting classes at the Broughton Arts Society.
He enjoys the experience of holding the brush and painting all sorts of images. He mostly likes painting faces, birds, eagles and fairies.
Recently, Terry’s artwork was selected to be exhibited in the ‘AdveRsiTy’s Diversity’ Broughton Art 49th Annual Exhibition at the Hughes Gallery – Fullarton Park Community Centre, where other employees of Orana were also exhibiting their work.
Terry’s teacher says he is very individual in his approach and knows what he wants to do.
He enjoys painting as well as socialising with his mates in the classroom. ‘He really enjoys painting and has become better and better’, said his teacher.
Terry was happy to tell us about his artwork at the exhibition and let us take a couple of snaps of his recent creation: a set of bright fairies ready to sparkle on the Christmas tree!
*The Broughton Arts Society is a vibrant community legacy of the late Ian Broughton, a talented young artist affected by Muscular Dystrophy. The exhibitors live with disability and classes at Broughton are designed to discover hidden talents, tap into the imagination, develop potential and extend artistic skills. Their wonderful and inspiring creations are testament to the intricacy of the human brain and the potency of the human spirit.
Orana provides support and employment for people living with disability. Please consider making a donation to assist with providing positive futures for people like Terry. Your support can make a real difference to a family.
