Orana was proud to partner with Electoral Commission SA and the City of Salisbury to offer Voting Information Sessions, to support and encourage people with an intellectual disability in the Northern Metro area to be more involved in voting and wider civic participation.
Orana clients attended the voting information sessions and completed a practice vote to learn how to use the different ballot papers.
On their final session of a series of three workshops, they met with Mayor Gillian Aldridge who explained her role as Mayor and the role of local governments.
Participants enjoyed meeting with Mayor Aldridge, asking questions and discussing the importance of voting.
Orana, Electoral Commission SA & the City of Salisbury have worked in partnership to deliver the series of workshops with an aim to encourage and educate people with disability on their right to participate in voting and how to have their say in the local communities.
They enjoyed learning and look forward to voting in the next election!
