International Volunteers Day 2019

International Volunteers Day is held annually on the 5th of December. It was designated by the United Nations in 1985 as an international day of observance to celebrate the power and potential of volunteerism. Volunteers Day is an opportunity for volunteers and volunteer organisations to raise awareness of the contribution made to their communities. It is also a time for volunteers and organisations to get together and celebrate their contribution, efforts and to promote their work among the communities.

Volunteering is undertaken in all cultures, languages, and religions. Each year, hundreds of millions of people volunteer their time and skills to help make the world a better place. When people choose to volunteer, they are helping to improve the lives of others. When they volunteer, they also gain a greater sense of belonging to their communities and a chance to work and enhance their skills.

On the 5th of December 2019, Orana celebrated with a group of volunteers who have chosen to kindly contribute their time and effort to help Orana throughout the year. Orana would like to raise awareness of the important role volunteers play and thank each and every one of you for your time, effort, skills and support. Your contribution to Orana has been invaluable and we would like to send you a big THANK YOU! Every helping hand is greatly appreciated.
