Hitting the court at Port Augusta

Employees from Orana Business Services and Orana Day Options Centre at Port Augusta participated in the ‘Inclusive Basketball Association Competition’ last season at the Central Oval Complex in Port Augusta.
All players living with disability or with special needs are getting the opportunity to play competitive sport through the Inclusive Basketball volunteer-run 18-week program.
The Port Augusta community showed greater interest as the senior league increased from two to four teams this year, while the junior category had two teams playing.
The Orana team made the best use of their teamwork and communication skills, which allowed them to execute a more effective strategy and score more freely. The players were considerate and knew when they had to stand back and give someone else a go at scoring. They all looked great in their new sports shirts that were sponsored by Orana.
Fun was shared not only within the Orana team, but with the rest of the teams at the competition. It was a great opportunity for them to develop their social skills while engaging in a healthy and active lifestyle opportunity.
It was a fun experience for everyone who participated in this community event.
Thanks to the Orana staff, families and volunteers who supported the team to accomplish their achievements.
They enjoyed the Inclusive Basketball season so much that they are already organising the team for 2019. ‘We will be back next year!’ said Billie, Orana employee.
