Creating inclusive communities with Volunteerability
Earlier this year, Orana partnered with Volunteering SA&NT, Southern Volunteering SA, and Northern Volunteering SA in developing a program that creates more inclusive communities and volunteering opportunities for people with disability.
Volunteerability’s website, volunteerability.com.au, was officially launched on the 4th December 2020. This specific date was chosen to celebrate International Day of People with Disability, which falls every year on the 3rd December and International Day of Volunteering, which falls every year on the 5th December by providing a program that benefits the two groups.
The program aims to create more inclusive communities by expanding organisational practices and growing opportunities for all volunteers in South Australia, including people with disability. It recognises volunteers’ value to our society by providing the tools for volunteers with disability and volunteering organisations to work together in a meaningful role.
The program will provide:
– Free Disability Awareness training for organisations and volunteers
– Support for people with disability to find a meaningful volunteer role
– Volunteer buddies to provide one-on-one support to the volunteer with disability and the organisation with inclusive practices
– Provide resources and toolkits to promote inclusion
Volunteerability will be officially launched in early 2021. You can help support the program by following and sharing with your family and friends their social media pages:
