Stay in touch with Orana Winter 2018
An Olympic blast
Orana was extremely proud to be part of the 2018 Special Olympics Australia National Games as the Families and Supporter’s Partner, that took place in Adelaide in April.
Orana has enjoyed a nine year partnership with Special Olympics South Australia, supporting the organisation’s Community Sports Link program, helping to provide South Australians living with disability the opportunity to participate in a wide range of sporting activities.
Our wonderful Orana Stars from Port Pirie were part of the South Australian ten pin bowling team.
Daniel, Lissie and Kathleen were supported by their families, friends and Orana staff at Port Pirie to proudly represent our state.
Together with their mates from the SA team, the Orana Stars were awarded with Gold, Silver and Bronze medals in the single, couples and squad categories.
They had a wonderful time sharing with their team, coaches, families and supporters in Adelaide not only during the competition but in the events leading up to the games, the opening ceremony and taking to the dance floor at the closing ceremony!
Congratulations Daniel, Lissie and Kathleen for a big week of great effort, discipline, performance and very well deserved medals! We are very proud of your achievements and we look forward to cheering you at the next games!
*Held every four years, the Special Olympics National Games provide five days of competition for athletes with an intellectual disability to compete in a range of sports, including athletics, basketball, bocce, bowling, equestrian, soccer, golf, gymnastics, sailing, swimming and tennis.
