1. POSITION PURPOSE
The role of Accountant is a comprehensive Management / Financial one, responsible for the preparation of timely, accurate financial information for the Organisation that complies with all applicable financial reporting standards, ATO requirements and State and Federal Government regulations and for the control, provision and use of financial and supporting information within the Organisation, with an aim to better equipping users for informed decision making.
2. POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
Internal Reporting & Compliance:
 Timely preparation of the monthly financial results of the Organisation, including the income statement, balance sheet and cash flow reporting, and all supplementary documentation
 Development and preparation of regular management reporting and analysis in line with the needs of the business
 Monthly reconciliation of all balance sheet accounts to include investigation of variations and adjustments where necessary
 Management and reconciliation of the bank accounts of the organisation, including the administration of corporate funds in accordance with approved investment strategies and the regular review of the bank accounts held in trust for clients
 Management of the fixed asset register, to include physical audit on a regular basis
 Provision of cost accounting information to the Employment and Accommodation Services in order to inform the pricing of quotes and tenders, identify efficiencies and drive process improvement
 Oversight of the inventory management process, with responsibility for monthly reconciliation and resolution of differences between the physical and book stocks
 Continual review of the procedures and processes associated with the Accounting functions, to ensure relevance, currency and communication to other parts of the Organisation
 Development and implementation of an internal audit procedure for financial processes
External Reporting & Compliance:
 Fulfilment of all relevant ATO reporting and payment deadlines

 Preparation and submission of all State and Federal Government Funding reporting requirements
 Co-ordination of the external financial audit annually
 Provision of financial data to other external agencies as appropriate
Provision of Support to:
 all users of the Organisation’s financial IT solutions
 the Payroll function, with responsibility for ensuring that all wages and salaries are processed accurately and on time
 the Accounts Payable function, with responsibility for ensuring supplier payments are accurate and timely
 the Accounts Receivable function, with responsibility for assessing, monitoring and reporting on the credit status of the customer base and ensuring that overdue collections are followed through
 the CFO in the preparation of the annual budgets and forecasts
3. REQUIREMENTS OF THE JOB
3.1 Qualifications, Skills and Experience
 Professional qualification in a finance discipline
 Significant proven experience in a similar role
 Demonstrated experience in process review and improvement in a Finance function
3.2 Core Technical Competencies
 High level of ability to work independently and as part of a team
 Superior interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal)
 High level of ability to build effective relationships and liaise widely with all levels of staff and external organisations to ensure co-ordination of projects and services and achieve successful outcomes
 A very high level of attention to detail and excellent time-management skills, with a commitment to meeting deadlines consistently
 Strong analytical and problem solving skills, with an inquisitive approach and the enthusiasm to see a project through to its conclusion
 Demonstrable knowledge of current accounting standards and applicable ATO requirements
 ERP system experience, with particular focus on financial modules
 Awareness of the reporting and regulatory requirements within the not-for-profit sector
3.3 Special Conditions/Requirements
 Occasional work out of hours may be required.
 Orana Incorporated may require you to carry out other duties as directed that are commensurate with the skills and competencies of the classification level.
 Driver’s licence and willingness if needed to use own vehicle for Orana business.

 Reports to the Chief Financial Officer

7. PERFORMANCE STANDARDS
The performance of the incumbent will be measured by:
 An unqualified (clean) external audit report annually
 100% compliance with ATO and other external agency deadlines
 Meeting 100% of current internal reporting deadlines with accurate, well presented information
 A shortened month end cycle through improvement of processes and procedures
 The provision of accurate, useful costing information and management reporting to the business to allow timely decision making
 Achievement in accordance with Orana’s Strategic and Operational Business Plans and the incumbent’s Performance Agreement and Review Plan.
