Orana volunteers are an incredible group of people. Not only do they give their precious time to help us with improving the quality of lives for people with disabilities, but they often become a valued partner.
Volunteers can work with us as little as once a year, or as much as once a week (in fact we have a few very special volunteers that work several times a week). They can be individuals or entire organisations. You can choose a site that is close to your work or home and be involved in supported accommodation, employment or general administration.
Orana is seeking more volunteers in general administration, fundraising, accommodation services or employment services. We encourage persons from all walks of life to volunteer with Orana; parents, siblings, adult students & any person wishing to assist in the improvement of other’s lives.

At our Accomodation Services
work with adults with disabilities..
Some examples of the important roles volunteers can play in improving the lifestyle of people with disabilities either on a 1:1 basis or in a small group are:
- Walking – taking a resident for a walk in the sunshine
- Exercise – assisting residents in the gym
- Recreation – taking a resident to the movies
- Improving literacy and numeracy – reading to residents
- Hobbies – sharing time doing a favorite hobby with a resident
Employment Services

Projects – assist the team with on site project completion

Co-worker – work alongside employees with disability to improve their work satisfaction

Administration - provide administration support that allows staff to concentrate on employee development
General Administration (Head Office)

General administration - folding letters, filling

Data entry – keeping data bases up to date & current

Fundraising – help raise much needed funds

Marketing – work with our marketing team

Specialised areas where volunteers have specific work skills such as Human Resources & Finance
How do I volunteer?
Volunteers can be based at Orana’s head office in Netley, or other Orana services depending on our needs.
If you have an interest in volunteering with any of Orana’s sites or services, please contact Matthew Poland on 8375 2000 or mpoland@orana.asn.au in the first instance who will provide further information on how to apply & how to make contact with the Manager of the site or service. The first step is to discuss the volunteering opportunities with the Manager of the site or service to find out what opportunities are suited to you.
After this an application form which includes a police check needs to be processed.
